Moral Philosophy
& Animal Ethics

ABOUT

I am a PhD candidate and lecturer at the Department of Philosophy at the University of Vienna and member of the Vienna Doctoral School of Philosophy. I am also a guest researcher at the Messerli Research Institute, located at the University of Veterinary Medicine, Vienna, where I teach in the “Interdisciplinary Master’s Program in Human–Animal Interactions” (IMHAI).

In my research, I am primarily interested in methodological questions and how to overcome the pitfalls of impartial and reductionistic approaches to human-animal relationships with a practice-oriented approach to moral problems. My main sources of inspiration are Cora Diamond and Ludwig Wittgenstein. Currently, I am developing my post-doc project which centers around the importance of special (human-animal) relationships and how to establish a robust concept of reasonable partiality.

I am further interested in environmental ethics, veterinary ethics, family ethics, medical ethics, and the ethics of war.
